Our Story

It all started when…

2 Durant ISD Alums.

18 years of friendship.

6 kids in the Durant school system.

One vision: Take care of those who take care of ours.

What started with a text message in July 2016 turned into 556 boxes, (28,000 pounds) of paper and an entire community coming together in support of our teachers. Cassidy and Christy created the #DurantPaperChallenge with hopes that they could help relieve a small financial burden on Durant teachers for the upcoming school year. Neither one would have ever imagined the magnitude of the event or the love that local businesses, alums, and parents showed.

Cassidy Gilmore, 2005 Durant graduate, and Christy Cromer, 2002 Durant graduate, both grew up in families full of educators. Together, they decided that it was time to give back and take care of those teachers who take care of our children each and every day. Between the two, they currently have 6 students enrolled in Durant public schools and quickly realized that the needs for school supplies will never be adequately met and that, ladies and gentlemen- is why RESTOCK(ed) was created.

A small conversation of big hopes and dreams has turned into a full blown vision. A vision where Durant teachers (and soon ALL Bryan County educators) will not have to carry the burden of school supplies. Teachers will not have to reach into their own pockets to provide supplies for their students. Teachers will get to do what they do best. TEACH.

We hope to create an entire revolution of support for the educators in our lives. We want each teacher to know they are appreciated. We want to take care of those who take care of ours.

“Teachers are the only people who lose sleep over other people’s children”- Nicholas Ferroni

Stay tuned, Durant- we are JUST getting started!
